What prednisone is not

Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It works by decreasing or preventing tissues from responding to inflammation. It also modifies the body's response to certain immune stimulation. Prednisone is not the same as the dangerous anabolic steroids used by weight lifters to increase muscle mass. It is not a sex hormone like testosterone or estrogen and does not cause sexual dysfunction. Prednisone is not addictive. Deltasone side effects

If you stop using prednisone abruptly it can cause the life-threatening Addison's disease, when your body no longer produces sufficient amounts of adrenal steroid hormones.
